We will be in Maine in late May. Would this area be too cold or even icy to take the short trail to the coast? Anyone ever been this time of year? Can someone tell me the average temps here in late May? Thanks.

Schoodic Peninsula is spectacular and easy to drive with easy, low traffic walks along the roadside and in parking areas. From there, take the coastal roads (187) through Machias to Lubec (via 191) and then up to Eastport. This could easily take two or more days, so look for places to stay or for places to turn around and take US 1 back.
