By Frank Pingue OAKMONT, Pennsylvania (Reuters) -Overnight U.S. Open leader Sam Burns, seeking the biggest win of his career, got his final round underway on Sunday at partly cloudy Oakmont Country Club with a one-shot lead over Australian Adam Scott and J.

America's Sam Burns maintained his slender overnight lead but the field closed in after a terrific finish to the third round at the US Open.

Burns led all players in Round 3 in strokes gained approach, picking up nearly 3.8 shots on the field in that metric alone.

The U.S. Open final round was halted at 4:05 p.m. after torrential rain soaked Oakmont, leaving standing water on the greens and in fairways, with play set to resume at 5:40 p.m.

Localized heavy rain and lightning are both possibilities, which means there could be interruptions to play.
