Round 2 of the U.S. Open was suspended Friday due to inclement weather. Action will resume Saturday morning before the start of the third round.
Following the second round of the 2025 US Open, Sam Burns jumped to the top of the leaderboard. He fired an impressive 5-under 65 in the second round to surge 32 spots and take a one-shot lead over J.
With rain coming at the end of Friday’s second round, that action continues Saturday with 13 players still needing to finish Round 2 before Saturday’s third round begins.
The event will be back on schedule for the final day, after a weather delay suspended play in the second round on Friday and forced an early morning on Saturday to finish out the round. The third round was also pushed back from its originally scheduled start as a result, but finished on Saturday evening.
Heavy rain forced a suspension of play during the final round of the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont with Sam Burns leading by one stroke over Adam Scott.
Rory McIlory recovered from a nightmare start to scrape into the weekend at Oakmont – indeed, he played the last 15 holes in two under – but his second round yesterday will be remembered more for the wrong reasons.
