The report that OpenAI is planning a browser comes after its smaller AI rival, the internet search-oriented Perplexity AI Inc., announced its own browser earlier today. The browser, called Comet, uses AI to automate manual tasks for users and includes Perplexity as the default option for search.
The Worldcoin project uses iris technology to authenticate humans and has been mired in controversy due to allegations of privacy violations. It has faced challenges in countries such as France, the U.K., South Korea, Spain, Kenya, and India due to the same reason.
Perplexity AI, the fast-rising search startup backed by Jeff Bezos, Nvidia and SoftBank, just launched its first web browser. Dubbed Comet, this AI-powered browser is designed to challenge Google Chrome ’s dominance, which still commands over 68% of the global browser market.
