Four Trump administration officials will brief senators Thursday afternoon on the U.S. bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities, as lawmakers and the White House clash over access to intelligence about the strikes.

While Trump did not seek approval, he sent congressional leaders a short letter Monday serving as his official notice of the strikes, which occurred Saturday between 6:40 p.m. and 7:05 p.m. EDT, or roughly 2:10 a.m. on Sunday in Iran.

In a letter to Congress, obtained by U.S. News, President Donald Trump argues that his military strikes on Iran are legal based on his powers under the Constitution’s Article II, which makes him “Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States.”
