WOODBURY COUNTY, Iowa — Former Des Moines Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Ian Roberts has been taken into custody by the U.S. Department of Justice and is no longer in custody at Woodbury County Jail, the sheriff's office said in a release. The DOJ took Roberts into custody on a federal warrant for his arrest.

Baltimore City Public Schools said it cannot provide details on the immigration status of Ian Roberts, a former principal detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement last week, raising

"The egregious breach of trust that was perpetrated by Roberts... is unconscionable," the district said in a release.
