Protesters in Pinellas and Hillsborough counties chant and stand in solidarity for the rally tied to hundreds more happening in cities across the nation.

On Saturday, crowds of people gathered throughout the country — including in the Tampa Bay area — for what is dubbed as the "No Kings" protests.

At rallies from Tampa and Largo to Sarasota and Bradenton, protestors made a point of staying on sidewalks and not obstructing traffic.

More than 2,000 "No Kings" protests are planned for Saturday, June 14, around Florida and the United States. The protests coincide with Flag Day, President Trump's 79th birthday and the U.S. Army's 250th anniversary celebration and military parade taking place in Washington, D.C.

Protesters are set to take to the streets across the Tampa Bay Area on Saturday to protest the Trump administration as he celebrates his 79th birthday.

The "No Kings" day protests were planned before riots erupted in Los Angeles over immigration enforcement raids. Trump called in the California National Guard and a few days later ordered Marines to the city. California Gov. Gavin Newsom filed a lawsuit over the president’s move to deploy members of the Guard without Newsom’s authorization.

Most of the events in Sarasota and Manatee counties took place this morning, though the rally scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. at J.D. Hamel Park on Sarasota's bayfront is expected to draw the largest number of protesters.
