Novo Nordisk shares rallied on Tuesday as a maker of a weight-loss drug alternative confirmed it won’t be selling it for much longer.

Investors are scrambling to adjust, after the telehealth specialist Hims & Hers said it would stop selling an alternative to Novo Nordisk's Wegovy and Ozempic weight-loss drugs. Hims stock stood about 17% lower at under $42.

Drug compounders on Monday sued the U.S. Food and Drug Administration over its decision last week to remove Novo Nordisk's weight loss and diabetes drugs Wegovy and Ozempic from its shortage list, a move that will sharply curtail the compounders' ability to sell cheaper versions of the drugs.

The FDA announcement confirms that the U.S. supply of both prescription-only drugs now meets or exceeds the current and projected demand in the country, the Danish pharmaceutical company said.
