A Polk County family is mourning the death of a 4-year-old boy who accidentally shot himself. Davenport police said Chosen Morris climbed into the family car Friday night. That is where he found a loaded handgun under the seat and pulled the trigger. The boy was rushed to the hospital but died on Saturday.

Davenport Police Chief Steve Parker addressed the deadly shooting over the weekend that left a 4-year-old dead from an accidental gunshot to the head.

Detectives say they believe the four-year-old, identified as Chosen Morris, was so excited about the night out that he went ahead of his family to the car alone

Chosen Morris was declared dead around 3 p.m. on Saturday at Arnold Palmer Hospital, according to the Davenport Police Department.
