Late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel has become a very polarizing figure over the years, there's no question about it. Earlier this week, CBS announced that "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" will end in May 2026.

“CBS canceled Colbert’s show just THREE DAYS after Colbert called out CBS parent company Paramount for its $16M settlement with Trump – a deal that looks like bribery,” Senator Elizabeth Warren wrote on X. “America deserves to know if his show was canceled for political reasons.”

When Trump sent the National Guard into Los Angeles in June to quell protests related to his mass deportation efforts, Kimmel called Trump “an arsonist with a hose.” This came amid backlash over the President’s decision to send in the National Guard without the request of California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Daily Show, which is hosted on Monday nights by Jon Stewart, will compete in the category after also fending off competition from upstarts such as buzzy YouTube show Hot Ones and Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney.
