A former WA employee was sentenced to 18 months in prison and ordered to pay more than $1 million in restitution for his embezzlement scheme.

When police arrested a 13-year-old boy in Washington state last week accused of making threats to kill, they found he had “everything ready to go to commit a mass shooting” – including a trove of more than 20 guns in his home.

According to the 2025 report by U-Haul, people from Washington state are mostly moving to other metro areas in the West. The U.S. cities that have gained the most Washington residents include Denver, Las Vegas, Phoenix and Portland, Oregon.

"It appeared the suspect had everything ready to go to commit a mass shooting type of incident," a Pierce County deputy said.

Investigators received a tip about the Tacoma-area boy’s social media posts in which he brandished guns and detailed his desire to kill others, according to police reports.

Facing $100,000 in fines, a Spokane County farmer now has 30 days to pay up or appeal after irrigating his property without permission as the state cuts access for dozens of others. According to a news release,

We won’t insist on it, but the Hotline would appreciate greatly if Washington State could reveal its true identity this weekend. Not the defense, necessarily. We’ve seen enough from that unit to conclude it’s reasonably stout.
