Neiman's 100-plus years of history in Dallas and its leading role in turning Dallas into a global retail destination has made the downtown closure all the more dramatic.

Saks Global announced the Dallas flagship Neiman Marcus store will close on March 31 claiming the building landlord forced the closure.

Herbert Marcus Sr., his sister, Carrie Marcus Neiman, and her husband A.L. Neiman opened the retailer's first store in Dallas, Texas, in 1907.

Neiman Marcus announced Tuesday it will close its flagship store in downtown Dallas after more than 100 years. The store will close March 31st after parent company Saks Global was ordered to terminate occupancy.

The company announced a $100 million investment into the location at NorthPark Center.

The news comes less than a year after Neiman Marcus’ merger with Saks Fifth Avenue and shortly after the announcement of the closing of their CityPlace offices.

Nearly 120 years after its opening, the luxury department store’s historic Dallas headquarters is shuttering, Saks Global, the new owner of Neiman Marcus, revealed in a statement. The headquarters will be closing its doors for good on March 31.
