Elon Musk’s Starlink offers free internet service in Venezuela after US raid, capture of Maduro
In a Sunday blog post on its website, Starlink – which is owned by Musk’s rocket company SpaceX – said it was adding service credits to both active and inactive accounts.
The FCC approved SpaceX to deploy 15,000 next-generation Starlink satellites, unlocking gigabit-speed internet and direct-to-cell connectivity while fueling speculation around a potential trillion-dollar IPO.
( NewsNation) — SpaceX-owned Starlink will provide free internet service to Venezuela through Feb. 3, the internet company announced on X late Saturday. The move comes after parts of the country, including the capital city of Caracas, lost power due to military strikes the United States conducted.
As Iran faces nationwide protests and widespread internet blackouts, a media report says an Israeli deputy minister enquired about Starlink’s availability in the country.
Elon Musk claims Starlink was denied an internet license in South Africa due to his race, citing "anti-White laws." He alleges the country's legislation favors Black South Africans, drawing parallels to US property rights debates.
Recent events have left Venezuela with its communications infrastructure damaged. Elon Musk's Starlink has stepped in to restore access for existing users.
