Dwyane Wade has always been a straight shooter, and his recent comments about the NBA Draft Lottery have set the internet on fire. During a conversation on USA TODAY Sports, the Miami Heat legend didn’t outright accuse the league of rigging the lottery, but his words did enough to spark fresh debates.

The Dallas Mavericks won the lottery. Entering the day with a 1.8% chance of landing the top pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, they overcame the odds and earned the right to pick Duke star Cooper Flagg next month, beating out more favored teams like the Utah Jazz, Washington Wizards and Charlotte Hornets.

Roughly one month after the WNBA’s Dallas Wings selected UConn star Paige Bueckers first overall, the Mavericks clinched the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, despite having only a 1.8% chance of doing so.
