In an unexpected move, Nebraska cancelled their home-and-home series with Tennessee. Danny White took to social media to throw shade at the Cornhusker program.

Nebraska leads the all time football series against Tennessee, 2-1, dating to Jan. 2, 1998. The Vols defeated Nebraska, 38-24, in the Music City Bowl on Dec. 30, 2016 in Nashville, Tennessee. Tennessee's scheduled nonconference opponents in 2026 are Furman and Western Michigan in 2027.

ESPN's Pete Thamel reported on Friday morning that the Tennessee Volunteers and Nebraska Cornhuskers are canceling their upcoming football home-and-home series for 2026 and '27, citing Nebraska "wanting eight home games in 2027 when they expect reduced stadium capacity because of renovations."
