The Supreme Court ruled against Texas and landowners who challenged a plan to store thousands of metric tons of nuclear waste at a facility in the state.

The 6-3 ruling, authored by conservative Justice Brett Kavanaugh, reversed a lower court's decision declaring a license awarded by the NRC to a company called Interim Storage Partners to operate a nuclear waste storage in western Texas unlawful.

The 6-3 decision was a victory for long-stalled efforts to private store commercial spent fuel from reactor sites.
