Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Friday announced that Punjabi will be a compulsory subject from Class 1 - Class 10 across all schools in the state.

Punjab assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution to promote Punjabi language by making it compulsory till Class X in non-government schools and introducing court judgements in the language.
