Charlotte, NC faces a 60% chance of rain and possible thunderstorms today, with gusty winds and a high near 73°F.

One-third of a million passengers flying to and from Amsterdam Schiphol – including tens of thousands from the UK – have now had their flights cancelled as a result of extreme wintry weather. On the fifth day of flight chaos, the home airline KLM said it could run out of de-icing fluid.

Charlotte and surrounding areas are under a heat advisory Saturday with high temperatures expected throughout the weekend. The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for noon through 8 p.m. Saturday for Mecklenburg, Cabarrus and Union counties.

Charlotte shattered the record with a high of 79 degrees. But those warm feelings will be long gone by Tuesday.
