The grand finale of It: Welcome to Derry ‘s first season is finally here. After the horrific Black Spot massacre, it seemed like Pennywise’s ( Bill Skarsgård) bloodlust was finally sated for his 1962 cycle, and the monster was ready to hibernate… until General Shaw ( James Remar) removed one of the pillars caging It into the town to free the beast.

It: Welcome to Derry Season 1 is officially past the point of holding back. Episode 6, “In the Name of the Father,” unleashes Bill Skarsgård ’s Pennywise in full force and pushes the series deeper into the creature’s twisted history.

In the final episode of HBO’s official IT: Welcome to Derry podcast, director Andy Muschietti said his good friend and collaborator Skarsgård “on the set, has this passion and commitment, but also the desire to explore new things.” This exploratory spirit was birthed while making the movies. However, it should be noted that the victory at the end is not real. Pennywise is not defeated. He is only trapped again. This is the same state he was in before. It is also how he exists during the movies. The finale makes one thing clear. Pennywise cannot be killed in normal ways. He exists outside normal time.
