According to Rule 8 of the Olympic Charter, “The Olympic symbol expresses the activity of the Olympic Movement and represents the union of the five continents and the meeting of athletes from throughout the world at the Olympic Games.”
The flag is a traditional part of the opening of the Games.
Belgium's Ingmar De Vos, who has served as the FEI President since 2014 and has been the President of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) since 2025, has been elected as a member of the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in his capacity as representative of the Summer Olympic Federations.
