Monk heard someone was at the door of his home, so he opened it and was surprised to see so many familiar faces smiling to greet him. The former Redskins receiver sat down and talked with Washington Post reporter Nicki Jhabvala about the special surprise.

Hall of Fame wide receiver Art Monk, a part of all three of Washington's Super Bowl winning teams, will have his No. 81 retired by the Commanders on Nov. 2.

ASHBURN, Va. — The Washington Commanders said Tuesday they are retiring Hall of Fame wide receiver Art Monk’s No. 81 this season. Monk is the sixth player in franchise history to get that honor, joining Darrell Green, Sammy Baugh, Bobby Mitchell, Sonny Jurgensen and Sean Taylor.
