Israel forces have repeatedly hit Iran’s defenses. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that Israel had worked to “peel off the layers of protection” of Iranian defenses.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Israel launched an expanded assault on Iran on Sunday, with direct strikes targeting its energy industry and Defense Ministry headquarters, while Tehran unleashed a fresh barrage of missiles blamed for the deaths of four people and injuries of many others.
The strikes came after the Israeli military said it had carried out fresh strikes on Iran nuclear infrastructure sites.
An IDF squad commander in the Shimshon Battalion of the Kfir Brigade was killed in southern Gaza, while in Khan Yunis, the remains of hostage Aviv Atzili were recovered.
The Navy is sending the USS Thomas Hudner to bolster air defense systems in the region as fighting between Israel and Iran continues.
