Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran migrant who became a symbol of President Donald Trump’s hard-line immigration policies, was released from a US detention facility Thursday after a federal judge said the government lacked any legal grounds to keep him in custody.

The judge ruled federal prosecutors handled material seized from law professor Daniel Richman with "callous disregard" for his constitutional rights.
