The Lincoln Police Department said an officer fired his service weapon after another officer got caught inside a vehicle during a traffic stop Monday morning. 

The driver, 66-year-old Ronald Willis of Lincoln, was arrested on suspicion of fleeing to avoid arrest and assault on a police officer. Officers also arrested his passenger, a 44-year-old Lincoln woman, on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance. Additional charges are pending further investigation.

A man was taken into custody after firing a shot at a Philadelphia officer during a traffic stop in the city's East Germantown neighborhood on Monday night, police said.
