Roman Anthony checked off an important box Monday in his young MLB career. The highly touted Boston Red Sox center fielder went deep in the top of the first inning for the first home run of his career.

SEATTLE — Roman Anthony hit his first career major league home run in the first inning Monday. The 21-year-old, who is batting third in the Boston Red Sox lineup, belted a 391-foot home run to right field. It left his bat with a 104 mph exit velocity.

The Bombers left their bats in the Bronx this weekend. The Yankees were shut out by the Red Sox in their 2-0 loss capping off a brutal weekend at Fenway Park. Brayan Bello carved up the Yanks’ prolific offense as they had no answer for the 26-year-old.
