OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has offered his most detailed public comments yet on the prospect of advertising within ChatGPT, signaling both openness to new monetization models and deep reservations about the risks to user trust and product integrity.

"Clearly, people have been able to take care of babies without ChatGPT for a long time,” Altman initially and astutely observes on the official OpenAI podcast, only to concede, "I don’t know how I would’ve done that."
