Amazon’s thinking behind Sumerian (the AWS product) is that it is trying to bring AR, VR and 3D into the mainstream by building set of tools to make it much easier to use.

Amazon Web Services has announced a preview of Sumerian, a cloud platform that can be used by novice or expert developer to create virtual reality and augmented reality environments.

The partnership between HTC's VR unit and AWS' Amazon Sumerian could help enterprise developer use cases.

Amazon said Sumerian is available in preview starting today, accessible via its AWS Management Console. The service is priced according to the amount of storage used for 3D assets and traffic volume.
