Small earthquakes reported near Fillmore in Ventura County
Several earthquakes, the largest measured at magnitude-3.3, were reported Thursday morning in Ventura County. The earthquakes were centered near Fillmore, about 25 miles northeast of Ventura. Shaking was reported in Fillmore, Moorpark, Ventura and Santa Paula.
Three earthquakes rocked Sonoma County on Sunday afternoon. The first quake struck at 3:30 p.m. just east of Rohnert Park and was recorded with a magnitude 4.0, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. That was followed by a magnitude-3.1 temblor at 3:38 p.m. in nearly the same location.
A series of earthquakes struck the same Los Padres National Forest area in Ventura County this morning, six within 11 seconds, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The strongest was a 3.3-magnitude quake at 10:27 a.m., about 9 miles northwest of Fillmore.
A shake alert went out over the U.S. Geological Survey's early warning system on Dec. 4, warning that a 5.9 earthquake near Carson City in western Nevada could produce heavy shaking in the region. But moments later, the survey announced the alert, which was sent to people as far west as San Francisco, was a false alarm.
LATEST, Dec. 8, 3:15 p.m. Oakland is the latest Bay Area city to be jolted by an earthquake on Monday. The shake happened at 2:55 p.m. and had a preliminary magnitude of 2.9, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake also had a depth of 2.85 miles, with an epicenter located north of Montclair.
The United States Geological Survey put out a false alarm for a 5.9 earthquake east of Dayton, Nevada, on Thursday morning.

Magnitude-5.9 Nevada earthquake notification was false alert, USGS says
A notification about a magnitude-5.9 earthquake in western Nevada near the California border was a false alert, the USGS said.
A magnitude 4.7 earthquake struck off the southern coast of Mexico, centered about 50 miles south-southwest of La Esperanza.
A swarm of at least six earthquakes reaching up to magnitude 2.9 rattled San Ramon near San Francisco, the U.S. Geological Survey reports. The other quakes in the Saturday, Dec. 13, swarm ranged from magnitude 1.3 to 2.3, according to the USGS.
