In the Southeast, more than 400,000 homes and businesses were without power Sunday morning in Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. Flash flood warnings were issued across much of the region.

The warning covers a large swathe of Georgia, along with parts of Tennessee, Florida, Mississippi and Alabama.

Flooding has inundated a swath of Southern states over the past 48 hours after more than 6 inches of rain fell in some areas.

A sprawling storm pounded the Southeast leading to intense flash flooding. Nearly half a million people across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia are experiencing power outages. NBC’s George Solis reports for Sunday TODAY.
