The final witness for the defense returned to the stand Wednesday in the Karen Read retrial, as Read has announced that she would not testify in the high-profile case.

The defense in Karen Read’s murder retrial rested its case on Wednesday afternoon, after Andrew Rentschler, a biomechanical engineer and accident reconstructionist from ARCCA, faced questioning all day, including a heated cross-examination. The jury was dismissed for the day at 3:38 p.m.

Closing arguments are scheduled for Friday in the retrial of Karen Read, accused of killing her boyfriend, John O’Keefe, with her SUV.
