WhatsApp is reportedly developing a document scanning feature for Android, similar to one already available on iOS. The feature will likely allow users to scan documents directly within the app, creating PDFs for easy sharing.

Will Cathcart, head of Meta's subsidiary, announced the launch of WhatsApp channels with subscriptions and advertising. He says the rollout of artificial intelligence does not compromise the privacy of encrypted messaging.

OpenAI made the announcement on X, formerly known as Twitter. The company wrote, “ChatGPT image generation is now available in WhatsApp via 1-800-ChatGPT. Now available to everyone.” Another post stated, “Don't forget to link your ChatGPT account to 1-800-ChatGPT in WhatsApp to get more image generations.”

Meta has unveiled plans to introduce adverts on WhatsApp, breaking a promise by the messaging app’s co-founder never to do so. In a major update announced on Monday, WhatsApp said it will roll out paid advertising to its 3bn monthly users over the next few months.
