The Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) mourned the death of political activist Assata Shakur, who was convicted of murder in 1977 and on the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorists list in an X post Friday. Shakur was also the step-aunt and godmother of late rapper Tupac Shakur.

Assata Shakur, a US citizen and Black Liberation Army member died in Cuba on Friday. She was on FBI's ‘most wanted’ list and was wanted for escaping from prison in Clinton, New Jersey, while serving a life sentence for murder. As per FBI documents, Shakur was accused for acts of terrorism, and ‘unlawful flight to avoid confinement’ - murder.
