Several Minnesota politicians and mourners memorialized conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Wednesday, as news of his assassination at a college event in Utah shocked the nation. Kirk, the co-founder and chief executive of the youth organization Turning Point USA,

The shooting of Kirk is the latest apparent act of political violence to rock the country. In June, Minnesota House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, were assassinated in their Brooklyn Park home. Kirk was scheduled to appear at the University of Minnesota on Sept. 22.
The popular conservative activist killed while speaking at a college campus in Utah Wednesday was also scheduled for a Minnesota visit later this month.
Kirk's death followed attacks in recent years on Trump, state governors, state lawmakers, members of Congress and even the US Capitol.
