Stakes heightened, playoff paths sharpened and AP Top 25 ballots became even tougher to perfect as the dust settled on Week 3 of college football. No. 6 Georgia outlasted No. 15 Tennessee in a 44-41 overtime thriller on Saturday.

Aidan Birr made a 55-yard field goal as time expired and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets upset the No. 12 Clemson Tigers 24-21.

Since that 2016 game, Tennessee hadn’t kept Georgia closer than two TDs and usually lost by a lot more. This year, so many things went right for the Vols, and they still weren’t enough. Several mega-talented Georgia defensive backs appeared to short-circuit and forget how to track a ball in the air on Tennessee heaves.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets pulled off a dramatic upset over 12th-ranked Clemson on Saturday, thanks to a game-winning field goal by Aidan Birr.

The LSU equipment truck accidentally collided with a garage door on its way out, leaving behind bent metal and dents. To make matters worse, a malfunction with the stadium fireworks show set off a small fire on the videoboard during the game, sending flames and smoke into the air in what felt like an ominous sign for the Tigers.
