The No. 4 seed in the men's draw is out of the French Open. Taylor Fritz, the top-seeded American man, went down in four sets in a stunning first round loss to Daniel Altmaier of Germany (7-5, 3-6. 6-3. 6-1).
The defending champs record straight-set victories, but fourth-seeded Taylor Fritz, ninth-seeded Emma Navarro and four-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka drop their openers.
The 23-year-old British number one recovered from a slow start to win 3-6 6-1 6-4 6-2 under the roof on Court Suzanne-Lenglen.
Cameron Norrie and Sonay Kartal also safely through to second round, joining Emma Raducanu, Katie Boulter and Jacob Fearnley

But the ninth seed broke to get herself on the board before suffering a 6-0 6-1 defeat - also known as a bagel and a breadstick. They do love a bakery here in Paris.
