German carmaker Mercedes-Benz claims to have become the first carmaker in the world to drive a car powered by a lithium-metal solid-state battery

Mercedes has begun testing an EQS equipped with a solid state battery. It provides 25% more range than a lithium-ion battery of the same size and weight. Solid state batteries offer higher energy densities and safety benefits over traditional batteries.

Mercedes-Benz and Factorial Energy unveil a prototype EQS with a solid-state battery, which could achieve a 620-mile range.
