Humberto, the eighth named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, strengthened into a hurricane late Thursday night, but it is not expected to impact South Florida, meteorologists say.
Humberto strengthened into a hurricane early Friday morning, Sept. 26, and is expected to become a Category 4 storm over the weekend. A tropical storm is forecast to scrape by Florida’s East coast over the weekend before potentially making landfall in the Carolinas as a Category 1 hurricane as soon as Monday.
Hurricane Gabrielle passed Bermuda Monday night as a powerful Category 4 hurricane and is moving into the open Atlantic, the NHC said.
