The man suspected of shooting two Democratic state lawmakers and their spouses in Minnesota while impersonating a police officer appeared in court on Monday afternoon as he faces an array of state and federal charges.

Authorities detained the wife of 57-year-old Vance Boelter, the suspect accused in the deadly shooting of a Minnesota state lawmaker and her husband early Saturday morning.

A car allegedly belonging to Vance Boelter, the man suspected of shooting two Democratic lawmakers and their spouses over the weekend, has reportedly been discovered a day later and more than 50 miles away from where the tragedy took place in Minnesota.

A Minnesota lawmaker and her husband were shot and killed early Saturday morning in “what appears to be a politically-motivated assassination,” Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said at a news conference Saturday.

Two Minnesota state lawmakers were shot in apparent "targeted" incidents on Saturday that left them in grave condition, officials said.
