Tennessee Athletic Director Danny White put Nebraska on blast after the Volunteers’ scheduled home-and-home series with the Cornhuskers set for the 2026-27 seasons was cancelled. The series, which was set to begin with Nebraska hosting Tennessee in 2026 from Lincoln before a 2027 return date in Knoxville,

Nebraska leads the all time football series against Tennessee, 2-1, dating to Jan. 2, 1998. The Vols defeated Nebraska, 38-24, in the Music City Bowl on Dec. 30, 2016 in Nashville, Tennessee. Tennessee's scheduled nonconference opponents in 2026 are Furman and Western Michigan in 2027.

"We are very disappointed that they didn't want to play these games, especially this close to 2026," White said.
