Tuna sold in 26 states and in Washington, D.C., was recalled over concerns that it may have been contaminated. The stores affected include Trader Joe’s, Genova, Van Camp’s and H-E-B.

Cans of tuna sold by major grocery chains in 27 states have been recalled by the Tri-Union Seafoods company over concerns a manufacturing defect with their easy-pull tab lids could allow the clostridium botulinum toxin, which causes botulism, to contaminate the product.

Tri-Union Seafoods canned tuna sold at Costco, Trader Joe’s, Walmart, and other stores have been recalled for botulism risk. Brands include Genova and H-E-B.

The products sold under the Genova, Van Camp’s, H-E-B and Trader Joe’s brand names are impacted by the recall, which Tri-Union Seafoods said is being issued "out of an abundance of caution" following a manufacturing defect.

The popular breakfast item was recalled last week due to possible plastic contamination. The grocery chain did not say if the product had made anyone ill.
