There is no tsunami threat to Hawaii from a magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck off the coast of Russia this morning, Pacific Tsunami Warning Center officials said.

Authorities warned of larger than normal waves, including three metres above standard tide levels, on coastlines within 1000 kilometres of the earthquake.
