The eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki in Indonesia has prompted the highest volcanic alert and travel advisories in East Nusa Tenggara.

LEMBATA, Indonesia — Indonesia’s Mount Lewotobi Laki Laki erupted with giant ash and smoke plumes again Wednesday after forcing evacuations of villages and flight cancelations, including to and from the resort island of Bali.

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki, located in the southeastern part of Flores Island, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), erupted again on Friday night, June 20, 2025. The eruption at 10:31 p.m. local time produced a 2-kilometer-high ash column from the mountaintop.
