Poland is deploying about 40,000 soldiers on the borders with Belarus and Russia amid rising tensions after the Russian drone attack on September 10, TVP World reported. It is expected that tens of thousands of servicemen will take part in the periodic joint Russian-Belarusian exercises Zapad-2025.
Russia and Belarus on Friday launched a long-planned joint military exercise involving thousands of troops that has raised concern in the West.

Poland shut all border crossings with Belarus on the night of September 11. According to the Belarusian state news agency BelTA, Polish border guards rolled out barbed wire and set up metal barriers at the checkpoints.

Since September 12, Poland completely closed the border with Belarus. Traffic at checkpoints, including the passenger "Brest", stopped at midnight local time (1.00 am in Belarus) for an indefinite period of time.
On 11 September, the Polish Border Guard officially notified the State Border Committee of Belarus that the border checkpoints on the Belarusian-Polish border would be closed starting from 1:00 on, Belarusian time.
General Wiesław Kukuła, Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, has confirmed that the Polish side received information from Belarus about drones flying in its direction.
