Pep Guardiola explained that Erling Haaland was left out of the Manchester City squad to face Liverpool after coming up sore after training on the eve of the match. Guardiola had hoped to be able to bring his star striker back in after the Norwegian missed the midweek defeat to Real Madrid but the forward failed a late fitness test and was unavailable for the 2-0 loss to Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola admits that he does not know when Erling Haaland will be available again, but hopes that he will play on Wednesday when Manchester City travel to take on Tottenham Hotspur. The Norwegian sat on the bench last week as City were beaten 3-1 at Real Madrid and then was not involved in the squad at all on Sunday as they lost 2-0 at home to Liverpool.
