Angel City defender Savy King has been discharged from the hospital after undergoing successful heart surgery, beginning the next phase of her recovery about a week after a medical event during her team's match against the Utah Royals.

The NWSL released a statement saying King "left the field in stable condition" and was "responsive" upon arriving at California Hospital Medical Center. After being transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, she was diagnosed with a heart abnormality and underwent surgery to correct the issue. Her prognosis was described as "excellent."

The last NWSL matchday had everyone on edge. Angel City defender Savy King gave the entire soccer community a huge scare after collapsing on the pitch during a match against the Utah Royals. The game was halted for over 10 minutes as nine paramedics attended to her before she was eventually carted off.

The NWSL came under fire for its decision to play on after Savy King's on-field collapse, and the league is finally issuing a response.
