Friends of the man accused of killing four people after opening fire in a Michigan church say he long harbored animosity toward the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints but never made

Thomas Jacob Sanford, 40, was identified as the suspect who rammed a pickup truck through a church in central Michigan and opened fire.

At least five people are dead and eight are injured, authorities said. The suspect was also killed in the shooting. Authorities said a fire, believed to have been deliberately set by the gunman, also broke out at the church. The blaze has been extinguished, and investigators say more victims maybe be found inside.

The Grand Blanc church shooting involved Thomas Jacob Sanford. Conflicting claims emerged about his political affiliations. Some linked him to Democratic donations, others to a Trump-Vance sign. Authorities confirmed Sanford drove a truck into the church,
