President Donald Trump is frustrated with Russia and Ukraine and could instruct his administration to pull out of peace talks.

Many Russians cheered President Trump’s election because they thought he could make a deal for a negotiated peace in Ukraine that would satisfy the Kremlin. Three months into Mr. Trump’s second term, the disappointment in Moscow is palpable.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Friday that if it is not possible to end the war in Ukraine, the United States needs to abandon its efforts within “days” and move on.

The broad framework of the plan would also lift some sanctions on Russia and remove the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO — key Moscow demands — while providing security guarantees to Ukraine and stopping Russia’s attacks.

Ukraine's economy minister has said that Kyiv and Washington have "taken a step" toward inking a "partnership agreement."

The memorandum of intent paves the way for an economic partnership deal and the setting-up of an investment fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
