A regulator has accused NVIDIA of violated China's antitrust laws over its acquisition of chipmaker Mellanox. In its preliminary findings of an investigation it commenced in December, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) claimed that the company breached both national regulations and the conditional terms China outlined when it rubberstamped the $6.

The U.S. chip juggernaut is facing a fresh round of antitrust scrutiny in China, just as senior officials from both countries meet for trade negotiations.

China said Monday that Nvidia violated anti-monopoly laws and that it would keep investigating the chip giant, putting the AI bellwether under pressure as Beijing and Washington continue trade talks.
