The Gith species as a whole isn't a monolith - there are 3 recognized races/cultures of Gith in the lore but the Githzerai and the Githyanki and the other 3rd one that never got fleshed out are definitely much more homogeneous than much more populous cultures or species.

Aug 21, 2023 · It doesn’t come from the undead Queen, it comes from Gith, who is an expansionist-slash-warmonger intent on enslaving and invading all the Planes once she united the Gith. The Githyanki is never good, they are a Lawful Evil empire since Gith, and her son, Orpheus, absolutely intends to follow in her footsteps to conquer the Planes.

They debuted as a playable race in the Planescape Campaign Setting boxed set, alongside the now-famous Tieflings and the now-obscure Bariaur (bighorn sheep centaurs from the Valhalla-esque Viking-themed plane of Ysgard).
