Replace a motion-sensor/timer with simple single pole switch
Sep 1, 2019 · I am trying to replace a motion-sensor that has a timer functionality to turn off the lights after 30 minutes. The motion sensor never worked when we moved into the house. I just want a simple single-pole switch. I opened the box and see that the old timer-switch has three wires: 1. Red (Load) 2. Black (hot) 3. White (neutral)
Is there a motion sensor light switch that does not need ground?
His suggestion was to find a motion sensing light switch that did not need ground, but he could not make a recommendation off-hand. Do motion sensing light switches that do not require ground exist? Or do I have to build/rig them somehow. Unfortunately, due to cost, I cannot afford to add ground wires to the areas of the house that I need these at.

To go back to normal operation, turn the switch off and wait ~10 seconds, then turn back on. I believe most will also go back to normal operations after some hours, or after the sun comes up again.

I am assuming that your sensor is similar, it has a semicircular translucent cover over the IR sensor. I disassembled mine and put black electrical tape on the back side of the translucent cover to block part of the view.
